San Marcos

San Marcos is a city located in San Diego’s North County Inland region. With a population pushing 83,000, San Marcos, is a bustling community that is most notable for being the home of California State University at San Marcos or CSUSM. CSUSM is a large university which is a part of the California State University system. The institution continues to grow, facilitating almost 10,000 students and offering both undergraduate and graduate programs. The city of San Marcos is also home to Palomar and Coleman College, two other opportunities for continued education.

San Marcos is known for the delicious eateries that call this city home, many of which are located along the historic and popular Old California Restaurant Row, and are popular destinations for residents and visitors to the area. Also in San Marcos are many golf courses, including the popular Lake San Marcos Country Club. San Marcos hosts many great recreational parks and facilities, including Bradley Park, La Moree Park, and Jacks Pond Park.

San Marcos’ near neighbor is the city of Escondido to the east, which is a larger, busier city than San Marcos. Though there are plentiful shopping opportunities in San Marcos, residents can also head over to Escondido for even more shopping. Also nearby San Marcos, residents will find the San Diego Wild Animal Park, part of the San Diego Zoo. This park offers visitors an exciting experience, as they can see wildlife from all over the globe in open recreations of their natural habitat, instead of in caged spaces.
